Issues with mysql databases

The server which holds all of your mysql databases for each site is encounting a few issues and has been over the past 24 hours. This may have caused missing tables or errors when trying to create tables.

These issues have now been resolved however more problems have been uncovered which means that the server will have to be restored. Backups of your databases have been made and the server will be restored and back up as soon as possible.

Many of you have noticed that this server has caused many problems over the past few months and this full restore will resolve these problems.

Sorry for the problems you may have been having over the past few months.

Payment system & search forums

We are moving development of Acornrack along day by day. We are only a couple of features away from moving Acornrack out of its current BETA state. There are still a few features which need to be added before this can happen however we are getting close. Two of these features are the ability to search the forums and the payment system.

Search Forums

We have now implemented the ability to search the forums. You can search the AR2 forums at the search page as well as implement the search feature into your own sites. On the first version of Acornrack the ability to search the forums was restricted to paid only sites. It isn't restricted like that this time. Please feel free to add your own search forums section to your sites. You can either add it yourself using the documentation entry as a guide or reset your forum page to default. As always if you have any difficulty in setting it up please post your request on the forums.

Payment system

Through the sites admin panel you can upgrade your site without having to add the adverts to your site. When you choose to upgrade your site you are given the option to upgrade using the advert driven or the straight payment. The payments are powered by PayPal which means that the upgrade you purchase will reflect in your site instantly. If you have any issues with the payment system, again, please post in the forums.

Recent Threads

A much requested feature on AR2 was the ability to show a list of the recent threads. This feature was added late on, in terms ofthe lifespan of AR1 but has proved to be a very popular variable!

An example of the recent threads code can be found in this thread and the documentation on this loop can be found in the manual.

Payment System

Also, the long awaited payment system is almost complete, it is undergoing final testing before we launch it. This will give you the ability to have an upgraded site without having to display adverts. You will not lose any AR1 credits and you will be able to use them for upgrading AR2 sites.

After a lot of discussion, we have decided to change the advertising networks we use to display adverts to your site.

The whole advert driven upgrade is constantly being changed to improve the experience for all users, this is a BETA after all! We used to have about half a dozen different advertising networks who would 'bid' for the chance to display their advert in the different sections we have designated. Some of these networks displayed the audio and redirecting adverts which are unacceptable within AR. We have since reverted to a Google Adsense platform, however this may change in the future too.

Our main goal in this BETA test is to get the system perfect for the users, with many suggestions being implemented and bugs being fixed we are well on our way towards this goal.
